At AP Swimming, we believe that learning to swim should be fun. Our teaching style helps our students to become comfortable and confident in the water , allowing them to learn while having fun.
However, the main purpose of our program is to teach our students how to be safe in the water.
It is estimated that Florida has the most residential swimming pools in the US, with just over 1.5 million. It is no surprise that according to the National Safe Kids Campaign, drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury and related death to children ages one through 14.
Owner/Head Instructor, Andrew Phillips is an Olympian who represented Jamaica in the 1984 LA Olympics. He became the first Jamaican and English Speaking Caribbean swimmer to reach an Olympic final.
Andrew has taught students to swim for 40 years. His wealth of knowledge and experience has taken some of his students to the highest levels of the sport from High School Swimming all the way to the Olympic and Paralympic games.
When children learn to swim, this skill is forever with them. It is therefore vital that beginning with their first lesson, they should be taught the correct way. There are many levels of swimming and benefits that come along the way as our students progress . We gear our program to introduce students to swimming , build their confidence and to help them to master the skill for a lifetime.
